Team-Up for Youth believes in the power of sports to help children learn and grow—socially, emotionally and physically. We pioneer innovative strategies to strengthen and expand after-school sports and physical activity programs that support the healthy development of young people living in low-income Bay Area communities.

Bring your team of girls! Girls Sports Day is open to all community-based sports programs that serve low-income girls ages 8-12 in the Bay Area. Mills student-athletes and coaches will teach sports clinics, give a campus tour, and facilitate interactive performances focused on good sportsmanship. Our goal is to inspire young women to become athletes!
If your program is interested in signing up your group of girls to attend, please contact Annie McShane at anniem@teamupforyouth.org or 510/663-9200, ext. 114.
Team-Up Trustee, former A's pitcher and MVP Dave Stewart was featured in the Olympics Preview issue of Sports Illustrated this July!
Dave wrote a letter to the editor addressing the previous issue's feature story "How Dreams Die," which described how sports may no longer keep at-risk youth out of harm's way. The article focused on Bay Area youth in particular.
Dave, who grew up in Oakland's Elmhurst neighborhood, offers Sports Illustrated readers a more positive view of how sports help kids thrive! To point, Dave writes, "Sports-based programs are part of the solution today, just as they were for me growing up in Oakland decades ago."
Thanks, Dave!
